Noxious Weeds

WATCH LIST

Yellowflag Iris

A native perennial of Eurasia and Africa, yellowflag iris (yellow iris, yellow flag) is typically found growing in shallow water where it crowds out native vegetation. It contains glycosides, making it toxic to grazing animals. Although it is primarily an aquatic species, its rhizomes can survive lengthy droughts. It is widely distributed in the U.S. and has been found in western Wyoming. If found in Fremont County, report this weed to your local weed and pest office.
