WATCH LIST

Emerald Ash Borer

  • Agrilus planipennis

emerald ash borer

The emerald ash borer is a nonnative, invasive insect species that has killed millions of ash trees in North America. It has not been detected in Wyoming but it is present in Colorado.

The most likely way emerald ash borer would arrive to Wyoming would be in firewood brought into the state. People living in areas of other states where the insect is established are not allowed to transport ash outside quarantined areas. Wyoming residents are encouraged to purchase firewood only from local sources or to cut firewood only from a local forest.
