Ventenata, also called North African grass, is an invasive grass from Eurasia that can infest grain crops, rangelands and disturbed sites. Its only known occurrence in Wyoming is in Sheridan County. A slender, erect annual 6 to 24 inches tall, ventenata has long, narrow leaves that appear rolled or folded. Small spikelets form near the ends of long branches. Seeds resemble those of wild oat but are much smaller.
